June 1st – Curiosity 2 Create (C2C) is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Cyndi Burnett as their new Vice President. Dr. Burnett is a renowned creativity in education scholar, educator, and practitioner whose work has focused on empowering educators to infuse creative thinking into the classroom. 

 

“We are thrilled to announce Dr. Burnett as our new Vice-President,” says Katie Trowbridge, President of C2C. “She spent 20 years of her career working in creativity research and teaching in higher education, which brings a depth and breadth of knowledge and a passion for bringing creativity into classrooms around the world. Her energy and passion for the work we do is contagious. As a team, we will learn a tremendous amount from her.” 

 

Dr. Burnett will assume her leadership role on August 23d, with her primary role overseeing the Creative Thinking Network (CTN). CTN is an online network for educators who love to share new ideas with monthly webinars, creative online lesson plans, creativity in education courses, and a community of like-minded, enthusiastic educators. She will also be an integral part of developing and implementing Curiosity 2 CREATE’s mission and vision.

 

Dr. Burnett believes that “with the rise of AI and the numerous complex and ambiguous problems the world is facing, there has never been a more critical time to teach creative thinking. We need to start early - we need to start now!” Her commitment to fostering creative thinking in students worldwide makes her an ideal fit for this position at C2C. 

In her tenure as an academic, Dr. Burnett ran a Massive Opening Online course On Igniting Your Everyday Creativity with over 70K participants from around the world. She was the recipient of the President's Medal for Excellence in Teaching by SUNY Buffalo State University, was Buffalo Business First, Woman of Influence for her work in creativity, and was featured in the NY Times article titled “Creativity Becomes an Academic Discipline.”Dr. Burnett hosts the Fueling Creativity Podcast, where she interviews leading researchers, practitioners, and educators on creative thinking in education. She is the co-author of the books Weaving Creativity into Every Strand of Your Curriculum, 20 Lessons for Weaving Creativity into Your Curriculum,  and My Sandwich is a Spaceship: Creative Thinking for Parents and Young Children

Curiosity 2 Create is a nonprofit organization that strives to cultivate creativity and curiosity in personal and professional lives through unique and tailored training/programs for educators and businesses. Through their unique C.R.E.A.T.E. model, Curiosity 2 Create will work with students, teachers, school districts, and corporations to assist them in discovering their creative potential and increase their ability to collaborate and think critically. They currently hold programs through the Naperville Park District. Curiosity 2 Create has also held programs in partnership with the Y.M.C.A. and the Chicago Boys and Girls Club.
